Montserrat is a mountain massif located 40 km northwest of Barcelona. By cable car, you can reach the abbey of Our Lady here, known for its worship of the statue of the dark-faced Virgin Mary (es La Moreneta). It’s worth to go even higher and take a stroll in the picturesque mountains. It’s also worth walking along the path to the Santa Cova grotto, where the previously lost statue of La Moreneta was miraculously found in 880.
